Crash Claims Floyd Ayers
Arnolds Park – Floyd Ayers, 22, Estherville, was killed in a car-truck crash early Wednesday on U. S. Highway 71 approximately two miles south of Arnolds Park.

Ayers, was alone in a car that collided nearly headon with a truck driven by Robert Van Note, 40, Brick Town, N.J., near the entrance of Terrace Park at 1:48 a.m. Wednesday. Van Note was released from Dickinson County Memorial Hospital following treatment for injuries.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, which investigated the crash, said that the Ayers car was northbound and the Van Note truck southbound at the time of the collision.

Authorities also reported that the Milford Fire Department was called to the scene of the accident to extinguish a small blaze.

The Ayers care was reported as a total loss with the semi-trailer truck driven by Van Note receiving an estimated $10,000 damage.

Estherville – Funeral services for Floyd Allen Ayers, 22, will be 2 p.m. Friday at the Fuhrman Funeral Home with the Rev. Bernard Johnson of the Church of the Nazarene, Estherville, officiating and burial at the East Side Cemetery. He died in a March 24 auto accident two miles south of Arnolds Park on U.S. Highway 71.

Mr. Ayers was born March 7, 1954 in Montevideo, Minn., to Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ayers and moved to Estherville at the age of two with his parents. He was educated in the Estherville Schools and was employed at Stokely’s, Spirit Lake.

Survivors include one son, Chad, Estherville; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Ayers, Estherville; four brothers, Wayne, Arthur, Bradley and Richard Ayers, Estherville; two sisters, Mrs. Kenneth (Linda) Bute, Estherville; and Mrs. Kenneth (Phyllis) Manley, Armstrong; and a maternal grandfather, George Fedderson, St. Paul, Minn.
