Mrs. Archer Survived by Nine Children
Mrs. Cornelia Archer died at the Holy Family hospital at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 28 after an illness of only five days.Cornelia Montgomery was born at Ledyard, July 30, 1888. She was married to Benjamin Archer Sept. 4, 1904. To this union 12 children were born. She is preceded in death by her husband, three children who died in infancy, one brother, Fred, and one sister Viola Carson.
She is survived by nine children, Floyd and Fay of Evanston, Ill., Mrs. Lila Harnett and Fern Archer of Chicago, Mrs. Verga Heidecker, Mrs. Zella Solmonson, Mrs. Evelyn Solmonson, Mrs. Norma Swalve and Milton Archer, all of Estherville. Also a brother, Jim Montgomery of Swea city and a sister Mrs. Sam Welfare of Ledyard and 15 grandchildren.
Mrs. Archer came to Estherville in 1943 and since that time has made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Verga Heidecker. Having worked at various places in town she had been very active until her sudden illness.
Services were held Saturday, Oct. 30, at the First Methodist church and conducted by the Rev. Harrison G. Dawes. Acting pallbearers were John Higgins, Dr. G. E. Tomhave, Leo Fitzgibbons, Dr. William Boies, William Sidles and O. D. Theophilus. Burial was in East Side cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 6, 1954)
