Rites Monday for Jessie Anderson, 85
Mrs. Jessie V. Anderson, longtime resident of Estherville, passed away Thursday [February 29, 1968] at an Omaha, Neb. hospital. She was 85 years of age Feb. 14.

Mrs. Anderson was born Jessie Viola Fritz at Cedar Rapids, Feb. 14, 1883, the daughter of Josiah and Katie Fritz.

She was married to George B. Anderson, June 20, 1910. Mr. Anderson was well known in Estherville and the surrounding area as real estate man and roofing contractor. For some time after their marriage they owned and operated the Napoleon Hotel on 1st Ave. South next to the M. & St. L. railroad.

They resided at 1201 1st Ave. South for more than 50 years.

Mr. Anderson died Nov. 2, 1960, at the age of 85. Mrs. Anderson moved to Omaha about a year and a half ago to be near two of her sons and a granddaughter. She took ill in July, 1967, and had several long stays in an Omaha hospital since that time. Her illness was further complicated by diabetes and she finally succumbed after a stroke.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her husband and four brothers, Harry, Bill, and Albert Fritz of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Virgil Fritz of Lincoln, Neb. She is survived by three sons, Vernon of Los Angeles, Calif., George and Leland of Omaha, Neb., granddaughter Judy of Omaha and grandson Bob of Los Angeles, two brothers, George and Martin Fritz of Cedar Rapids and sister Edna Cox of Ames, Iowa.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Reese-Henry Chapel, Estherville, and interment will be at East Side Cemetery. Friends may call after 9:00 Sunday morning, until services on Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 2, 1968)
