C. L. Botsford had a valuable Christmas present in the shape of a fine new boy that his wife presented him. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, December 29, 1892)

The angel of death entered the home of Mr. and Mrs. C. L. Botsford Tuesday [May 23, 1893] evening and bore away their darling babe to a heavenly home. The little one was five months old – was never strong, but the day it died it was apparently as well as usual. The first indications of death were so sudden that nothing could be done before the spirit left the body. The mother was holding the child in her lap, and from some unknown cause it stopped breathing. The affliction calls forth warm sympathy for all who know the worthy family. The funeral exercises were held at the Presbyterian church yesterday afternoon, Rev. S. W. Steele conducting them. (Northern Vindicator, Estherville, IA, May 25, 1893)
