Mrs. Ann Bringle Receives Word of Son’s Death in Korean Fighting
Sgt. Dale Bringle, son of Mrs. Ann Bringle of Fairmont, Minn., and formerly of Superior, has been killed in action in Korea, according to a telegram received by his mother last Saturday.The Bringles ran a meat market and grocery store in Superior about 14 years ago. When Dale’s father passed away, his mother continued to run the store until moving to Fairmont. Before entering the army, Dale worked at the Fareway store here. Hold Rites Sunday for Sgt. Bringle, Killed Oct. 5, 1951
Superior, Feb. 27 – Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the Grace Lutheran church in Fairmont, Minn. for Sgt. Dale E. Bringle, formerly of Superior, who was killed in action at Yonchon, Korea, Oct. 5, 1951. St. Bringle’s body arrived in Estherville Feb. 22 under military escort.He was the first national guardsman from Fairmont to be killed in the Korean war. The guard unit left Fairmont Jan. 24, 1951 and received training at Camp Rucker, Ala. Aug. 14, 1951 he was sent to Fort Lawton, Wash. for overseas assignment.
Born Nov. 9, 1930 in Estherville, Sgt. Bringle received his elementary schooling in Superior and Estherville before moving to Fairmont in 1942.
Survivors include his mother, Mrs. Anna Bringle, his sister, Cheryl, and his grandmothers, Mrs. Charles Christian and Mrs. Bell Bringle, both of Estherville. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, March 13, 1952)
