Joseph Winget of Richland Died Tues.
Joseph Stephen Winget was born at Farlin, Iowa, March 29, 1912 and died at the age of 24 at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Winget near Superior on Nov. 2, 1936. He had been sick for the past 18 years with an incurable malady. He came to Dickinson county with his parents while a very small boy and attended Superior Consolidated schools until he was 14 years of age and had to quit school on account of his poor health. He went to Arizona with his sister two winters for his health.

Since having influenza he has been failing the last year. Although up to about recently was feeling quite himself again. The end came suddenly Monday morning.

He has been a good Catholic throughout his life having affiliated in the St. Patrick’s Catholic church at Estherville.

Father Savage of St. Patrick’s church in Estherville will say mass and take care of the funeral services Wednesday morning.

Joseph was preceded in death by a brother, Albert, in infancy, near Dunlap, sister, Lillian at Superior and Mrs. Florence Knoblock at Peoria, Ill. He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Winget, of near Superior, and three sisters; Miss Rose of Minneapolis, Mrs. Eleanor Thommes of Fairbault, Minn., and Miss Josephine at home, uncles and aunts in and around Peoria, Ill., and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Ernst, Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Thomas and Miss Hazel Marie Winters of Winnebago, Minn., Miss Rose Winget of Minneapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Thommes of Faribault, Mrs. Fred Cox of Scranton, Mrs. Albert Monthei of Jefferson came from away to attend the funeral of Joseph Winget Wednesday. Superior – Joseph Winget, aged 21, passed away Sunday evening at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. J. [C.] Winget. Although Joe had never been very strong he had been about as usual and attended church Sunday morning. The end came very suddenly and unexpectedly. Besides his parents, he leaves three sisters, Rose of Minneapolis, Mrs. Elenore Thommes and Josephine. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, November 12, 1936)
