Last Rites Held
Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Walsh, who died at her home near Superior, May 12, were held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at Patrick’s Catholic church at Estherville.

She was born in Bavaria, Germany, on Oct. 3, 1879; the daughter of Simon and Mary Frolich. She came to America with her parents, three brothers and one sister at two years of age. The family located at Piper City, Ill., where she grew to womanhood. In 1901 she was united in marriage to Edward Joseph Walsh. To this union were born two daughters and four sons.

The family moved to Superior in March, 1916, where she still resided at the time of her death.

She was a member of the St. Monica circle of the Altar and Rosary society of Estherville.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1922 and by a son, Edward Joseph [Edward Leo] in 1926.

Survivors include two daughters and three sons, Mrs. Frank (Veronica) Smith, Estherville; Mrs. Perry (Theresa) Hanson, Milford; Andrew Thomas Walsh, James Arthur Walsh of Canton, Ill., and Ralph Eugene Walsh at home; three brothers, Andrew Alter and Theodore Froelich, all of Piper City, 22 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers were six grandsons, Francis, Edward and Fred L. Smith, Ralph and Robert Walsh, and John Beck.

Burial was in St. Patrick’s cemetery at Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 24, 1954)
