Frank Trevett Seriously Hurt
Lies Unconscious in Milbank South Dakota Hospital
Frank Trevett, son of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Trevett of this city lies in a hospital at Milbank, S.D., in a critical condition from injuries received when he was struck Friday night by an auto when walking on the highway. The parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Trevett, son George and daughter Margaret left at once for Milbank upon receiving word of the accident. No word has been received by other relatives here since Sunday night when he was given some slight chance of recovery by a specialist in attendance.

Mr. Trevett’s injuries included a broken leg and injuries to the head. He lies unconscious with concussion of the brain. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 13, 1934)

Hold Services For F. Trevett
Passes Away on Thursday Night
Funeral services for Frank Trevett, 34, who died Thursday night at the St. Bernard hospital in Milbank, S.D., were held Saturday morning at 9 o’clock at St. Patrick’s Catholic church. The Rev. Father L. J. Savage officiated at the services, which were attended by the American Legion members in uniform. Burial was in the Catholic cemetery.

Mr. Trevett’s death was the result of injuries sustained when he was struck by a car on March 9. He was returning home from his work about 6:30 in the evening when he was hit by a passing auto. He was taken to a hospital at once where he laid for four weeks unconscious. At the end of that time he regained consciousness enough to recognize members of his family although he was never completely rational.

He is survived by his wife, three children, Richard Frank, 7, Bernadine, 5, and Elizabeth Ann, 2 1/2 ; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Trevett, one sister Margaret and one brother, George.

Frank Decker Trevett was born June 27, 1899 in Nora Springs. He came to Estherville when he was four years old with his parents and spent most of the remaining years of his life in and around Estherville until one year ago when he moved to Milbank, S.D. When he was eleven years old he became a member of the Baptist church of this city.

He attended the local high school until he entered the army in the World war in 1918, serving his country here and in France until the close of the war.

On July 23, 1925 he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth G. Scholtes. At that time he became a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic church in Estherville. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, April 24, 1934)

Funeral for Frank Trevett Held Here Saturday Morning
Frank Decker Trevett, oldest son of Maude Decker Trevett and Fred C. Trevett, was born June 27, 1899, at Nora Springs, Iowa. He passed away April 19, 1934, at Milbank, South Dakota.

At the age of four years he moved with his parents to Estherville, Iowa. He spent most of his life in and around Estherville until one year ago when he moved to Milbank, South Dakota.

When he was eleven years of age, he became a member of the Baptist church of Estherville. He attended the Estherville schools until he entered the World War in June, 1918, serving his country here and in France until the close of the war.

On July 23, 1925, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth G. Scholtes. At this time he became a member of the Roman Catholic church of Estherville. To this union were born three children – Richard Frank, aged seven; Bernadine, aged five; and Elizabeth Ann, aged two.

On March 9, as he was returning from his work at six-thirty, he was struck by a passing car. The injuries he received caused his death six weeks later. He was taken at once to the hospital in Milbank where he lay for four weeks unconscious. At the end of that time he regained consciousness enough to recognize members of his family although he was never completely rational. His last two weeks were weeks of intense suffering but he bore it patiently and bravely. At nine o’clock on Thursday night, after bidding his loved ones “Goodbye,” he passed away, leaving to mourn him his loving wife, one son, two daughters, his father and mother, his brother, George, and his sister, Margaret, besides a host of other relatives and friends.

The funeral services were held at St. Patrick’s church Saturday, April 21, at nine o’clock with the Rev. Father L. J. Savage in charge. Interment was made in St. Patrick’s cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 26, 1934)
