Wilma Dorothy Wobbe Bormann 1910-2008

Wilma Dorothy (Wobbe) Bormann, the daughter of Henry and Dora (Luke) Wobbe was born April 27, 1910, in Phillip, South Dakota. She returned to the loving arms of God on Wednesday, August 13, 2008, at her home in Estherville, Iowa at the age of 98.

She received her education in rural country schools, graduating from Graettinger High School with the honor of Class Valedictorian. Wilma then attended St. Joseph's School of Nursing in Sioux City, Iowa, where she obtained her Registered Nurse Degree. On September 5, 1935, Wilma was united in marriage to Bernard V. Bormann in Graettinger. After their marriage the couple made their home in Estherville and Wilma was employed as a Registered Nurse at Holy Family Hospital. In 1946, the family moved to Morris, Minnesota and she continued working as an RN. Bernard died in May of 1996. After Bernard's death Wilma returned to Estherville to make her home. While living in Morris, Wilma was very active in Assumption Catholic Church and Morris community affairs. In Estherville, she was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church and Catholic Daughters of America and Respect for Life. Wilma received an award from the Minnesota Citizens Concerned For Life for her commitment and devotion.

Left to cherish Wilma's memory are her children, Dianne Mahoney of Winsted, Minnesota; Rosemary Froehle and her husband, Arthur of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Gerald Bormann and his wife, Priscilla of Plymouth, Minnesota; Jon Bormann of St. Louis Park, Minnesota; Carol Kapsen and her husband, Terrance of Edina, Minnesota; son-in-law, Norm Rosenberg of Burnsville, Minnesota; 20 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 4 great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Margaret Wobbe of Estherville; and Doris Schealler and her husband, Francis of Graettinger. She has been preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Marilyn Rosenberg; granddaughter, Jenny Mahoney; sisters, Beatrice Johnson; Gertrude Wobbe; and an infant brother. The family wishes to express its sincere gratitude to Phyllis Henkins for her loving care of Wilma.

Services August 16, 2008, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, IA. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville, IA. (Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel website)
