Jeffery Dean Thelen, the son of Engelbert and Evelyn (Heidenrich) Thelen, was born November 30, 1953, in Estherville, Iowa. He passed away Friday, August 18, 2006, at his home in Estherville at the age of 52 years.

He received his education in the Estherville schools, graduating from Estherville High School in 1973.

Jeff was married to Ruth Hively. He was employed as a carpenter for thirty-five years in both Estherville and Colorado. Jeff was also united in marriage to Kelly Kilgore. In his leisure time he enjoyed watching old monster movies, building model airplanes and fishing. In years past he especially enjoyed car racing and working with and watching Bob Shryock.

Jeff is survived by his children, Megan and Andrew Thelen, Alex, Jill and Tracy Altman; four grandchildren; brothers, Richard Thelen and his wife, Linda of Arlington, Texas; Phillip Thelen and his wife, Carole of Estherville; William Thelen of Emmetsburg, Iowa; Ted Thelen of Estherville; David Thelen of Estherville; sisters, Pat (Thelen) Rouse and her husband, Wayne of Estherville; and Sandy Jenson and her husband, Jim of Estherville.

Preceding Jeff in death were his parents and brother, Richard Thelen.

Services August 22, 2006, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, IA. Interment in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Estherville, IA. (Henry-Olson Funeral Chapel website)
