Leo Skibba Dies at 64
Leo (Louie) Skibba, 64, died early today of a heart attack while at work at Holy Family Hospital. Mr. Skibba, night engineer at the hospital, had several attacks prior to the fatal one suffered today.Leo Leonard Skibba was born Nov. 10, 1901, in Ironwood, Mich., the son of Frank and Gusta Skibba. He received his education in the Iron Range, Minn., schools.
After his marriage to Muriel Wilcox at Mineral Wells, Tex., Mr. and Mrs. Skibba lived for 25 years in Minneapolis where he was employed by the Al Johnson Construction Co. They moved to Estherville in 1958 and for the past eight years he has been employed at Holy Family. Prior to coming to Estherville, Mr. Skibba, during World War II, had done construction work in Alaska and New Foundland.
Mr. Skibba was a member of St. Patrick’s Church.
He is survived by his wife, Muriel (Maxine); two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Joanne) Archambean of Springfield, S.D., and Mrs. Robert (Marian) Russell of Algona; seven grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Frank Skibba of Fort Sheridan, Ill.; two brothers, Frank of Houston, Tex., and George of Fort Sheridan, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Matt (Emma) Panyan of Buhl, Minn.
Funeral services are to be Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Church, the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.
Friends may call any time Friday until time of services Saturday at Fuhrman Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, September 8, 1966)
