Rites Held for Mrs. John Pluth
Mrs. John (Antonia) Pluth, 82, Estherville, died at 9:30 a.m. Friday [April 23, 1971] at Holy Family Hospital, following a lingering illness.

She was born April 19, 1889, at Westphalia, to Mr. and Mrs. Otto Kohles. She was married Oct. 12, 1909, to John Pluth at Westphalia. They moved to a farm west of Wallingford in 1913, where they lived for 26 years.

In 1939, they moved to a farm northeast of Estherville. For the past year she has been a resident of Rosewood Manor. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Church, and a member of the Altar and Rosary Societies.

She is survived by three sons, Leonard, Urban, and Romaine, Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Elmer (Loretta) Spoo, Gruver; and Mrs. Bernard (Hilda) Wempe, Estherville; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, George Kohles, Riceville; and Charles Kohles, Ida Grove.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister.

A Requiem Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Sunday at the Reese-Henry Chapel, Estherville. Mass was held Monday at 10 a.m. at the St. Patrick’s Church, with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. James Duhigg officiating. Burial was in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 26, 1971)
