Mrs. Elmer Pierson
Mrs. Elmer Pierson, 71, passed away at St. Bernard’s Home at Council Bluffs, Saturday morning, February 21, 1948. The funeral was held Tuesday morning at ten o’clock at St. Patrick’s Catholic church, Estherville, with the Rev. Father Keane officiating. Interment was in the parochial cemetery.Mrs. Pierson was born at Long Prairie, Minnesota, August 6, 1876 [per cemetery records, 1877]. Her maiden name was Rose Luke. She was married to Elmer Pierson and the family resided in this community for several years. Mr. Pierson passed away six years ago. Mrs. Pierson subsequently resided in her home at Estherville but later entered the home for the aged at Council Bluffs.
Her death is mourned by two sons, Glenn, of Chicago; and Lawrence, of Gruver, Iowa. There are four sisters and two brothers. The sisters are Mrs. Meredith, of Pierre, South Dakota; Mrs. Henry Wobbe, Mrs. Charles Richardson, and Mrs. Frank Meyers, all of the Graettinger vicinity. The brothers are Alvia and John Luke, of this locality.
Mrs. Pierson has a great many friends in this community who will learn with sorrow of her death. She was in every way a splendid Christian wife and mother. She was a devoted sister and as a neighbor and friend she had few equals.
