Mrs. Opelt, 81, Dies at Rochester
Mrs. Katherine Opelt, 81, [Catherin Grasser Opelt] died of a heart attack at 7:30 a.m. yesterday at the Zumbro Hotel in Rochester, Minn.

Mrs. Opelt had gone to Rochester Wednesday with Dr. Alice Stinson to visit and died in the lobby of the hotel Thursday morning on her way down to breakfast. She had not been ill previously.

The deceased was born Sept. 1, 1869 in Baden, Germany, and moved to this country at the age of 13.

ON Jan. 1, 1901 she was united in marriage to Emil Opelt at Coal City, Ill., and she and her husband lived in Joliet, Ill., until 1910 when they moved to a farm northeast of Estherville. In 1928 the Opelts moved to Estherville where she resided at 1127 Central avenue until her death. Mrs. Opelt took an active part in the Catholic church being a member of the Altar and Rosary society and the Catholic Daughters of America.

Survivors include four sons Lewis Krier, F. J. Campisano and E. J. Opelt all of Estherville and Theodore Opelt of Brownsville, Tex.

Preceding Mrs. Opelt in death are her husband, one son Reinhardt and one daughter.

Friends may call at the Sternborg funeral home Saturday afternoon and at the Opelt home at 1127 Central avenue Sunday after 3 p.m.

Services will be held Monday at the Catholic church with the Rev. Father J. H. Duhigg in charge of services. Burial will be at St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Rosary service will be held Sunday at 8 p.m. at the Opelt home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 1, 1951)
