Reilly – In Superior township, January 21, 1892,Emmet, aged 15 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. Philip Reilly.

A boy of great promise, plucked from the tree of life to bloom in a fairer land. Emmet was a boy that was liked by all that knew him. He was more of a man than a boy in good sense and behavior. He was sick sixty-three days, and through that long siege of constant pain he never complained. He was brave to the last minute; he never gave in that death was near until fifteen minutes before he died. Boys like Emmet are few. He was honest and goodness beamed through his large blue eyes. His place can never be filled in the hearts of the bereaved family. The noble boy was laid in his last resting place with boquets of beautiful flowers on his breast brought in by kind friends. Father Kelly officiated at the funeral. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, January 29, 1892)
