Resident of County 30 Years Dies
Thomas Murphy, 75, of Estherville died of a cerebral hemorrhage at one o’clock yesterday afternoon.

Murphy had been ill for more than four years, but suddenly became worse a few days ago. He had been a resident of Emmet county for the past 30 years living in both the Armstrong and Estherville communities.

Murphy retired from the farm about 15 years ago and was living at 538 South Fifteenth street at the time of his death.

He was born Aug. 14, 1876, at Amboy, Ill., and moved to Hamilton county with his parents when he was seven. He was married to Mamie Logan of Williams in February, 1910. Murphy was a member of St. Patrick’s parish here.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, five brothers and one sister. The two daughters are Mrs. Charles (Katherine) Westbrook of Estherville and Mrs. Leonard (Evelyn) Wayson of Urbana. The brothers are John of Clarion, Leo, Frank and George of Williams and Charles of Algona. The sister is Mrs. Ed McCoy of Charles City. He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Services will be held at the St. Patrick’s parish here Friday at 9 a.m. with Father J. H. Duhigg officiating. The Rosary will be held at the Murphy home tomorrow evening at 8:30.

Burial will be at Estherville. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 2, 1951)
