Louis Krier Rites Today at St. Pat’s
Louis Krier, 80, Estherville, died Saturday night, May 6, 1972, from a heart attack at his home.

He was born Sept. 29, 1891, at Coal City, Ill., the son of Peter and Katherine Krier. He received his education in the Joliet, Ill., schools.

He was married Oct. 3, 1922, to Ella Hageman at St. Patrick’s Church in Estherville. He farmed and did trucking and corn shelling. They moved to Estherville in 1962.

He was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, was a third and fourth degree Knight and served as Grand Knight for three years. He was a member of B.P.O.Elks lodge of Estherville.

He is survived by his wife, a son, Wilbert, of Estherville; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Janet) Adkins of LeMars and Mrs. Joseph (Judith) Unger of St. Paul; seven grandchildren and one brother, Edward Opelt of Estherville.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Services were held at 10 a.m. today at St. Patrick’s Church, Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick’s cemetery.

Pallbearers were Milo Gillespie, Lambert Hermsen, David Fitzgibbons, Don Miller, Lester Ramsey and Jerry Hood. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, May 9, 1972)
