Mrs. Kiefer Dies at 79 at Hospital
Mrs. Rose Elizabeth Kiefer, died at 5:35 a.m. yesterday at Holy Family Hospital of complications of advanced age. She had been a patient for several weeks.Mrs. Kiefer was born Jan. 1, 1886, at Leroy, Minn., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Bagan. She received her education in the Leroy schools.
She was married March 6, -- to Martin Kiefer at Albert Lea, Minn., and they came to Estherville following their marriage. He was a fireman on the Rock Island railroad and died Nov. 13, 1942.
Mrs. Kiefer was a member of the St. Patrick’s Altar and Rosary society, Catholic Daughters of America and the VFW Auxiliary.
She is survived by two sons, Raymond of Estherville and John of Des Moines; three daughters, Mrs. Roy Hoffman (Margaret), Duluth, Minn.; Mrs. William O’Brien (Helen), Waukegan, Ill.; Mrs. Wayne –mundon (Marcella), Decorah; and 16 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and – brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Patrick’s church with Rt. Rev. Msgr. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial will be in St. Patrick’s cemetery.
Rosary will be said Monday at 8 p.m. at the Fuhrman Funeral Home. Friends may call at Fuhrman’s after 2 p.m. today until time of services tomorrow.
Pallbearers will be Earl D. Bagan, Eugene Bolty, Roger Hoffman, Wilbert L. Krier, Alvin T. Steuland and William M. Woods. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 12, 1965)
