Patrick H. Kenney, the son of Dennis and Sophia (Grindling) Kenney, was born August 31, 1917, in Gilmore City, Iowa. He passed away Saturday, March 26, 2005, at Lake Park Community Health Center in Lake Park, Iowa, at the age of 87 years.

Pat moved as a young child with his family to the Dolliver, Iowa area where he attended school. Later the family moved to Estherville, Iowa. After completion of his education, Pat served in the United States Army during World War II, serving overseas in New Guinea and the Philippine Islands.

On June 21, 1965, Pat was united in marriage to Laura [Griese] Knapp in Fairmont, Minnesota. Pat was employed as a carpenter for most of his life. Following their marriage the couple made their home in Dolliver where Laura was employed as Postmaster. After their retirement the couple moved to Spirit Lake, Iowa in the late 1980's. Laura died April 23, 2003.

Grateful for having shared Pat's life are step-sons, Dean Knapp and his wife, Claudia of Spirit Lake; Donald Knapp and his wife, Ginger of Marion, Iowa; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Preceding Pat in death were his wife; parents; and one sister, Mildred Kenney.
