Jostand Rites Are Monday
Jerome Jostand, 59, of Estherville died this morning at his home on S. 12th St. Death was attributed to measles and complications.Born Aug. 16, 1902 at Fort Madison, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Casper Jostand, Mr. Jostand received his education in the Fort Madison area. Upon graduation from high school he attended Iowa State University for two years.
On Nov. 21, 1942 he was married to Cora Gramlich at Joplin, Mo. They operated a creamery at Davenport before coming to Estherville. For the past 15 years Mr. Jostand was employed at John Morrell and Co.
Survivors include his wife, Cora, a son, Stanley, of Taylor Ridge, Ill; a daughter, Shirley of Janesville, Wis.; and children, Betty, Casper, Bernadine, Jerome, Robert, Richard, Catherine, and Rebecca, all at home.
His mother, Mrs. Casper Jostand of Fort Madison, also survived.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Fisch will officiate with burial to be in the St. Patrick’s Cemetery. Rosary will be recited Sunday night at 7:30 p.m. at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the home from Sunday at 3:00 p.m. until time of services Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 14, 1962)
Jostand Rites Changed
Funeral services for Jerome Jostand, who died Saturday morning of measles and complications, have been postponed until tomorrow at 10:30 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. Postponement was due to the inability of his mother, Mrs. Casper Jostand of Fort Madison to come here before Tuesday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, April 16, 1962)
