Homer G. Judd Dies
Friends here received word this week of the death of Homer G. Judd of Walnut Creek, Calif., former longtime resident of Estherville and retired Rock Island engineer.

Mrs. Judd, in a letter received by Jarvis Hiles, said that her husband’s death occurred Nov. 18, at the Merriett Hospital in Oakland [per CA death index, Contra Costa Co., date of birth 30 Aug 1889, Ia, mother’s maiden name: Rasmussen]. She said that he had a severe heart attack in June but had seemed to be recovering until October when he began failing and succumbed to the sudden attack in November.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Walnut Creek and burial was in the Catholic cemetery at Lafayette, Calif.

Mr. Judd began work on the Rock Island here as a fireman Sept. 15, 1910 and was promoted to an engineer Aug. 16, 1919. He had been a member of the local B. of L.F. & E. for 54 years. After his retirement several years ago, the Judds sold their home and moved to California.

He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Olive, and a granddaughter, who made her home with Mr. and Mrs. Judd.

He was predeceased by a son, Homer Judd Jr., who was killed in action during World War II. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, January 5, 1965)
