Ex-City Resident Dies
Mrs. Dan Higgins, former Estherville resident, died suddenly at 4 a.m. Friday [December 19, 1952] at a Le Mars hospital. She suffered a cerebral hemorrhage while she was riding in a car near Le Mars Thursday. The body of Mrs. Higgins was brought here this morning for burial at St. Patrick’s cemetery following funeral services at Ashton. Her husband was employed here at the Dodge-Plymouth garage for two years. He later moved to Denver, Colo. and a few weeks ago to Ashton. She is survived by her husband and five young children. Funeral services for Mrs. Dan Higgins, 41, of Ashton, who died Friday at a Le Mars hospital after a two-week sickness, were at 9 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Burial was at Estherville, Iowa.Mrs. Higgins suffered a cerebral hemorrhage about two weeks ago while returning to Ashton after a shopping trip to Sioux City. She was taken to the hospital at Le Mars when she became sick on the way home.
Mr. and Mrs. Higgins formerly resided in Des Moines. Mr. Higgins is an automobile dealer in this territory.
Survivors in addition to the widower are five children; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Klus of Odebolt, Iowa; three brothers and a sister. (Le Mars Globe-Post, Le Mars, IA, December 25, 1952)
