Mrs. S. Feger Was Found Dead Near Superior
Passed Away While Members of Her Family Were In Town
Funeral services were held on Tuesday morning at 9:30 at the St. Patrick’s church for Mrs. Franzes Feger, 71, who passed away at the home of her sons two miles southeast of Superior Saturday [August 9, 1941] evening. When the family returned from town after a two-hour absence Mrs. Feger was found lying on the floor.

The services were conducted by Father McGrath and burial was in the Catholic cemetery, south of Estherville.

Franzes Winkler was born September 22, 1870, at Baden, Germany. When she was a young girl of 13 she came to the United States with her younger brother to make her home, settling first in Illinois.

On September 25, 1888, she was united in marriage with Simon Feger at New Berlin, Ill. Mr. Feger had also come from Germany a few years before to make his home in this country. Twelve children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Feger, four of them, together with their father, having preceded their mother in death. Mr. Feger passed away on July 28, 1938, just a few weeks before the couple would have celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.

The couple made their home in New Berlin until 1917 when the moved to a farm near Jackson, Minn. Thirteen years ago the family moved to a farm near Superior and have lived in this county since then. Since the death of her husband, Mrs. Feger has made her home with her sons.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Olive Van Cura, of Eau Claire, Wis., Mrs. Agnes Levell, of Estherville, and six sons, Simon Feger, of Concordia, Kans., and Frank Feger, John Feger, Henry Feger, Carl Feger and Walter Feger, all of Estherville. Five grandchildren also survive their grandmother. They are Harold and Joan Feger and Carol, James and Robert VanCura. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, August 14, 1941)
