Bancroft – Funeral services were held Tuesday at St. John’s Catholic Church here for Bernard Dankbar, 52. Garry Funeral Home was in charge.

He was found dead Saturday morning in Welp’s Hatchery where he had been employed as a manager for 20 years.

Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Fidelis Dankbar, R.N., Rock Island, Ill.; Mrs. Tom Ford, Fort Dodge, several brothers and sisters. (Mason City Globe-Gazette, Mason City, IA, August 25, 1964)

B. F. Dankbar 54 of Bancroft, dies Friday [August 21, 1964]
Bancroft – Funeral services for Bernard F. Dankbar, 54, of Bancroft, were held Tuesday morning at St. John’s Catholic church here with burial in St. Patrick’s cemetery at Estherville.

He died sometime Friday afternoon while at word as a supervisor of one of the large hen houses north of Welp’s Hatchery. He had been employed by Welps for several years. Working along, his body was not found until Saturday noon.

Death was attributed to a heart ailment. He had been a resident of Bancroft for the past 20 years.

He was born March 11, 1910, at Haverhill, Iowa, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Dankbar. He was educated at Haverhill and Garner schools and on Aug. 23, 1940, he was married to Melvina Helinsky at Bancroft. She preceded him in death on June 23, 1945.

On Nov. 5, 1962, he was married to Ann Thell of St. Francis, Minn., and she survives. Two daughters, Fidelis Dankbar of Bancroft and Mrs. Thomas Ford of Fort Dodge also survive as well as three brothers and three sisters, none of whom live in Kossuth county.
