Rites Held for H. Cushman at Estherville
Funeral services for Howard Cushman, 47, of rural Spirit Lake, who died Saturday at 9:45 p.m. at Holy Family hospital, were held today at St. Patrick’s church, Msg. James H. Duhigg officiating. Burial was in St. Patrick’s cemetery.He had been ill for the past three months.
Mr. Cushman was born Nov. 23, 1921, at Dickens, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cushman. He received his education in the schools at Dickens.
He was married Nov. 15, 1949, to Mary Maday at Sherburn. He had farmed the past 14 years in Dickinson county.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served with the army in Germany.
He was a member of St. Patrick’s church.
Surviving are his wife; three sons, Gary, Jim, and Terry; two daughters, Ann and Jolene, all at home; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Cushman of Jackson; three brothers, Alvin of Jackson, Edward of Terril and Jerry of Jackson; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Poynter of Jackson and Mrs. Robert Wheatley of Estherville.
Pallbearers were Howard Brekke, Loren Devore, Harold Graff, Gerald J. Hanson, Eldon Hoffman and Wendell Taylor. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 24, 1968)
