Estherville – Services for Mrs. Joseph (Mary A.) Brinkman, 70, rural Estherville, will be 11 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, with Father Albert O. Grendler officiating. Interment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.Mrs. Brinkman died Wednesday, Aug. 24, 1977, at Holy Family Hospital.
Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. tonight at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Estherville. Friends may call at the funeral home until time of services Friday.
Mrs. Brinkman was born Dec. 17, 1906, near Wallingford, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Benesh. She received her education in the Estherville schools and attended Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught in Emmet County schools from 1925 until 1935 and later at St. Patrick’s School, Estherville, from 1963 until 1971.
She was married to Joseph Brinkman at Estherville on Dec. 30, 1935. The couple farmed south of Estherville.
Mrs. Brinkman was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Estherville, and of the Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of the Town Garden Club and the South Side Country Club.
Mrs. Brinkman is survived by her husband, Joseph; two sons, Jerome Brinkman, Estherville, and Dennis Brinkman, St. Paul, Minn.; three daughters, Mrs. Joanne Torpy, Loveland, Colo., Mrs. Diane Noll, Linn Grove, and Mrs. Bernadette Kennedy, Greenville, Ohio; fourteen grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Bess Cohen, Briggsdale, Colo., and Amelia Benesh, Estherville.
She was preceded in death by her parent, three sisters and one brother. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, August 25, 1977)
