Well-Known Resident of City Dies
Arthur Pitcher, 87, well-known and long-time resident of Estherville, died at 4:30 this morning at the Pitcher home. Mr. Pitcher had been ill for some time and just recently returned home from a hospital in Rochester.

Born May 28, 1868 in Albany county, New York, Mr. Pitcher moved at the age of eight with his parents to Grundy county, Iowa. In 1894 he purchased and moved to a farm three miles east of Estherville where he made his home until 1900 when he moved to Estherville to conduct a real estate and insurance business.

Mr. Pitcher was united in marriage to Maude Craig in 1917. Becoming a member of the First Methodist church at Grundy Center as a young man, Mr. Pitcher later transferred his membership to the Estherville Methodist church. He is survived by his widow.

Preceding him in death were his two sisters, Mrs. Eva Martin and Jessie D. Pitcher.

Funeral services for Mr. Pitcher will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at Sandin Funeral Home, the Rev. Harrison G. Dawes officiating. The body will lie in state from 1 p.m. Thursday until time of service. Burial will be in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, November 16, 1955)
