Victor "Vic" Bert Perkins 1918-1985

Funeral services for Vic Bert Perkins, age 67, of Arnolds Park were held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 1985, at 1:30 p.m., at the First Lutheran Church of Milford with the Rev. John Petersen officiating. Vocalist Cleone Edmund was accompanied at the organ by Ellen Petersen. Pallbearers were Edmund Milton Espe, Jack Geelan, Francis Mullin, Don Olson and Ced Van Steenwyk. Honorary pallbearers were Peter Austin, Jim Geelan, Royce Likness, E. C. McMahon, Ralph Nichols and Wilbur Roeber. The Leyson Funeral Home of Milford was in charge of the arrangements and burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.

Vic Bert Perkins was born to Louis V. and Hazel Perkins at Fort Dodge on March 29, 1918. He attended school at Estherville graduating in 1936. He also attended and graduated from the ABA School of Banking at Madison, Wis. He was employed at the Iowa Trust and Savings Bank at Estherville from 1943-1950 and at the Farmers State Bank at Whittemore from 1950-1980 where he served as an officer and on the board of directors. He served as president of the bank for 26 years. Mr. Perkins was a member of the Lutheran Church. He served as an officer of county, group and state banking organizations, as an officer of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Whittemore Community Club, Board of Education, Whittemore Golf Club and the Senior Citizen's Housing.

On March 7, 1943, Mr. Perkins was united in marriage to Marjorie Keel at Terril and to this union two children were born. On Saturday, Aug. 24, 1985, he passed away at the Dickinson County Memorial Hospital following heart failure.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Marjorie; son, Skip and his wife Caroline of Marshfield, Wi.; two grandsons, Gregory and Brian, Marshfield; his mother, Hazel Perkins of Belmond; two sisters, Mrs. Marvin Dorenkamp of Iowa Falls and Mrs. Merle Yule of Estherville; aunts, Lela Stuart and Olive Hinton of Webster City; six nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his son, Greg, in 1975 and his father in 1977. (Milford Mail, Milford, IA, September 5, 1985)
