Severt Olson Dead
Severt Olson died at the home of his daughter-in-law in the south part of town Saturday, of carbuncle complications, aged 80 years. Funeral is to be held Wednesday afternoon and interment made in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Olson came here with his son, O. S. Olson, from Ruthven, about fifteen years ago and has lived in Estherville since then. His son, his only child, Jeweler Olson, died about nine years ago and his wife two years later. He is survived by his daughter-in-law, one grandson and three granddaughters. Severt Olson died Sunday, December 10th, at the home of Mrs. O. S. Olson on south Tenth Street after an illness of only a few weeks of dropsy. He was born at Sogn, Norway, May 4, 1882 [1837], and came to this country in 1859 and settled in Wisconsin. From there he moved to California and remained five years. He came back and resided for a time near Fort Dodge. Then he took a homestead in Clay county and remained there until 1887 when he moved to Ruthven and then to Estherville in 1897. His wife died eight years ago. His son, O. S. Olson, was one of the pioneer jewelers of Estherville. Since the death of his son he has made his home with his daughter-in-law, Mrs. O. S. Olson, on south Tenth street. He leaves a brother and two sisters to mourn his death. Funeral services will be held at the house at 1 o’clock Wednesday afternoon and at the Norwegian-Lutheran church at 1:30 and the remains will be interred in Oak Hill Cemetery.
