Mrs. Mott Dead
Mrs. Irene Nowlin Mott died at the home of her daughter Mrs. Wm. Maxwell, in this city on Friday, October 15th, at the age of 90 years. She had been a resident of Estherville the past sixteen years. Deceased was born in Monroe county, N.Y., December 12, 1818, and was married to Joseph D. Mott, at Concord, Mich., in 1846. Eight children were born, four of whom are now dead and four still living. They are Edward Mott, of Burwick, N.Dak.; Simon Mott, Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. Wm. Maxwell and Miss Hannah Mott residing in this city. Mr. Mott passed to his reward in April, 1907, being over 90 years of age at the time of his death.Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Methodist church, of which deceased was a member, and her remains laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery. An Aged Lady Dies
Mrs. J. B. Mott, Nearly Ninety Years of Age Dies at Home of Daughter
Mrs. J. B. Mott, mother of Mrs. Wm. Maxwell, died at the home of her daughter Friday afternoon after only a brief illness.The funeral was held from the M.E. church at two o’clock Sunday afternoon were in charge of Rev. Wassar the resident minister. If deceased had lived until the 12th of December, she would have been 90 years of age. She was born in Monroe County, New York, Dec. 12, 1818.
In 1837 she moved with her parents to Jackson County, Michigan, and in 1846 she married J. B. Mott at Concord, Michigan. To them eight children were born, four of whom are living: Mrs. Wm. Maxwell and Miss Hannah Mott, of this city, a son in North Dakota and one in Oklahoma. In 1892 they moved to Estherville where they lived until death, Mr. Mott having died over one year ago. Besides the four children, deceased is survived by two brothers and one sister. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, October 21, 1908)
