Lars Hansen Lauritsen Dies at 81
Lars Hansen Lauritsen, 81, died at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at the farm home of his son, George, north of Estherville. Death was attributed to a heart attack.He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jorgen Lauritsen and born on Jan. 20, 1881 in Odense, Denmark. He received his education in Denmark.
In October, 1904 he married Christian Hansen at Elkhorn. He came to this country in 1900 and following his marriage he was employed as a blacksmith in Audubon County. He moved to Estherville in 1943 where he continued his blacksmith work and later was employed by Hoye Rexall Drug Store for a number of years.
He was a member of the Lutheran Church.
Survivors include four sons, Arthur, Alfred and George, all of Estherville and Glen of Superior; two daughters, Mrs. Carl (Lila) Beck of Superior and Mrs. D. W. (Lenore) Corbin of Jackson County, Minn., 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. One sister and one brother in Denmark also survive.
His parents, wife and one brother preceded him in death.
Funeral services are set for 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Sternborg-Reese Funeral Home beginning today until time of services on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be James Simpson, Ronald Prior, Lloyd Houge, Matt Reuland, Robert Valen and Don Hoye. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, June 4, 1962)
