Mrs. George Lyman Dies At Age of 86
Mrs. George Lyman, 86, long-time and well-known resident of Estherville, died yesterday at 2 p.m. at her home after having been in failing health for more than a year. Death was attributed to complications of advanced age. Mrs. Lyman had been hospitalized at various times during the past several months.The former Anna Jane Montgomery was born Dec. 31, 1876 at Greene in Butler County, the daughter of John and Rebecca Montgomery. She received her early schooling in the Greene schools and finished her education in Estherville, where she moved with her family at the age of 15 years.
Anna Montgomery and George Lyman were married Jan. 6, 1899 in Montgomery and since their marriage had made their home in Estherville and surrounding area.
Mrs. Lyman was an active member of the Christian church and of the Christian Women’s Fellowship as long as her health permitted.
She is survived by her husband; three sons, John, Richard and Fred, one daughter, Kathryn, [continued on page 3 – not copied] (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 10, 1963)
