Mrs. Emma Love, 84, Dies At Estherville
Mrs. Emma Love, 84, a former resident of near Graettinger, died Saturday at 10:50 p.m. at the Good Samaritan home after an illness of several years. Mrs. Love had been a resident of the Home for the past four years.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the First Presbyterian church in Estherville, the Rev. James F. Rowe of Armstrong officiating. Pallbearers were six grandsons, Richard Starkey, Dale Starkey, Jon Love, Gary Love, Dennis Anderson and Paul Appel.

Emma Grant was born May 5, 1876 at Peoria, Ill., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Grant. She received her education in that area and came to Iowa shortly before her marriage to C. C. Love on April 24, 1902 at Lytton. Mr. Love was born and raised in the Peoria area in Illinois and came to Iowa in 1900.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Love farmed in Calhoun County until 1920 when they moved to a farm near Graettinger. They lived there for four years and then moved to a farm south of Gruver where they continued to live for 18 years. Mr. Love died Jan. 10, 1944.

After her husband’s death Mrs. Love made her home in Estherville until her health failed and she became a resident at the Good Samaritan Home.

Survivors of Mrs. Love include three daughter, Mrs. Kenneth (Mildred) Starkey, Mrs. Everett (Ivah) Anderson, both of Estherville; Mrs. Thomas (Helen) Flood, Blaine, Wash.; two sons, Russell of Armstrong and Gerald of Estherville; 14 grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one granddaughter, two brothers and a sister. (Graettinger Times, Graettinger, IA, August 4, 1960)
