Miss Emma Leo is reported as being very sick. She had an operation last week. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, September 3, 1902)

Miss Emma Leo, daughter of Mrs. Aug. Leo of Emmet township, died Monday morning at ten o’clock after a very brief illness. She was taken sick only a week previous and on Saturday was operated on by Dr. W. E. Alton for appendicitis. She was twenty-eight years of age at the time of her death and was a true Christian girl. The relatives of the deceased have the sympathy of all in their hours of profound sorrow. Funeral services were held at the Presbyterian church in this city at eleven o’clock this morning and the remains interred in the Oak Hill cemetery.
