Services Pending for Hans Johnson
Hans Johnson, 78, died this morning at Holy Family Hospital following a short illness. Mr. Johnson was retired.

Survivors include his wife, Maude, three sons, Raymond, Graettinger, William and Deryl, both of Estherville; one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Clayta) Sheldon, LeMars. Also four sisters, Mrs. Olene Vasser, Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Leona Krantz, Estherville, Mrs. Earl Guge, Estherville, and Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Estherville.

He was a member of Estherville Lutheran Church.

Funeral services are pending at Reese-Henry Funeral Home. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 13, 1967)

Rites Monday for Hans Johnson, 78
Hans Johnson, 78, died at Holy Family Hospital about 10:30 a.m. Friday following a short illness.

He was born April 24, 1889, at Wallingford, to Mr. and Mrs. William Johnson. He attended Wallingford rural schools.

On Oct. 16, 1924, he married Maude Ella Rose at Des Moines. He was a lifetime resident of Emmet County. He moved to Estherville as a young man and worked at the old Estherville Grocery House for 20 years.

He also worked for Tobin in construction of the Tobin Plant and then worked on maintenance when the plant was put in operation. He continued after Morrell purchased the plant until his retirement in 1957.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Wallingford Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, Maude, three sons, Raymond, Graettinger, William, Estherville and Deryl, Estherville. Also one daughter, Mrs. Vernon (Clayta) Sheldon, LeMars; and 13 grandchildren. Four sisters, Mrs. Olene Vassor, Vancouver, Wash.; Mrs. Lena Krantz, Estherville; Mrs. Karl Guge, Estherville; Mrs. Alfred Nelson, Estherville.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel, Rev. Roy Hendrickson officiating. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Friends may call at Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today until time of service Monday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 14, 1967)

Out-of-town persons here Monday to attend the funeral services for Hans Johnson included Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Rose of Manly, Mr. and Mrs. Evert Ellis of Elva, Wis., Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Amdal of Tacoma, Wash., Mrs. Irene Reno, Marilyn Reno, Spirit Lake; Mr. and Mrs. G. M. Tonderum of Ruthven, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Oskerson of Granada, Minn., and Mrs. William Schofield of Kenneth, Minn. Sisters of the late Mr. Johnson are Mrs. Clyde (Olene) Vassor of Vancouver, Wash., Mrs. Alfred (Thelma) Nelson, Mrs. Carl (Louise) Guge, and Mrs. Charles (Louise) Krantz, all of Estherville. Pallbearers were Leslie Sidles, Tom Keeler, Orval Taylor, Albert Holmgren, Carl Newguard, and Clarence Woodyard. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 18, 1967)
