Mrs. E. W. Meyers [Myers] Died at Minneapolis
Formerly Mary Hyrup and Well Known to Estherville People – Sick Only Short Time
Word reached here Monday afternoon of the death of Mrs. E. W. Meyers at Minneapolis on that day. Mrs. Meyers was formerly Miss Mary Hyrup and a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hyrup of this city. The cause of her death was diphtheria. The Hyrup family received word Saturday of her serious illness and her mother left at once for that place. She arrived just a few hours before she passed away. Mrs. Meyers was employed as a clerk in Strube Bros. Music Store in this city for many years. She was born and raised in Estherville and has a host of friends who are grieved to learn of her untimely death. The remains arrived yesterday from Minneapolis accompanied by her husband and mother and funeral services were held this morning and the remains laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. Estherville friends extend sympathy to the Hyrup family. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, November 5, 1924)
