Paul Heyer Dies at 66
Paul Preston Hyer, 66, a long-time Huntington resident, died at 2:10 a.m. today in Holy Family Hospital. Death was attributed to a heart condition. Hyer had been in failing health for the past year and a half.Hyer was born Jan. 15, 1900, in Warren County, the son of Mr. and Mrs. William Hyer. When he was a young boy his parents moved to a farm near Maple Hill and shortly thereafter to a farm in Emmet Township, where he spent the rest of his life.
He received his education in Emmet County schools.
Mr. Hyer was married to Mabel Andrews July 17, 1927 in Kenmare, N.D.
He and his wife and their children farmed in Emmet Township.
Mr. Hyer is survived by his wife; two sons, Ralph of Ames and Floyd of Phoenix, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; one brother, Emmet, of Estherville; and one sister, Mrs. Lee Shultz of rural Estherville.
Funeral arrangements have been set for 2 p.m. Monday at the Huntington Methodist Church where Mr. Hyer was a member. Rev. Fred Ortmeyer will officiate. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Estherville.
Friends may call at the Reese-Henry Funeral Home after 9 a.m. Sunday until noon Monday at which time the body will be moved to the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 29, 1966)
