Marian Howard Dies Sunday P.M.
Fails to Recover From Lingering Illness of Two Years; Funeral Services Held Wednesday p.m.
Miss Marian Eleanor Howard, sixteen year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Howard, died Sunday afternoon at 4:30 o’clock following nearly two years of continuous illness. She died at her home at 508 North Sixth street.

Miss Howard became ill in 1925 during the summer months and a complication of troubles followed which prevented her recovery. Her condition grew gradually sores and she was greatly weakened at the time of her death.

She is the only child of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Howard.

Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the residence at 2:30 o’clock conducted by the Rev. P. A. Davies. Interment was at Oak Hill cemetery.

Marion Eleanor, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Howard was born at Estherville, Iowa, October 26, 1910. Her life here was but sixteen years, eight months, and fourteen days in length. At the beginning of her illness she was taken to Rochester for an examination. Here very little encouragement was received, never the less both Marian and her parents battled heroically for her life. Everything was done that could be done with courage and hope until the very end.

A year ago Marian finished her sophomore year in the Estherville high school with credit. In many of her classes she was on the honor roll.

Always bright and happy she kept her cheerfulness until the very end when she kissed her dear ones good bye Sunday morning. Marian was a member of the Presbyterian church. She trusted in her Christ. Unable to be in the church services for the last months, she found great comfort in the sacred music of the radio. Some of you about ten days ago listened in when W.O.I. played the sacred numbers that she had requested.

She leaves to mourn her going her loving parents, three of her grandparents, and many friends, for she made friends easily and kept them. (Estherville Democrat, Estherville, IA, July 13, 1927)
