Former Estherville Resident Dies
Mrs. G. L. Gorton reported today that her sister, Mrs. Lena Houltshouser, former Estherville resident, died Dec. 14 at the home of her daughter, Mrs. T. A. Blank, Hinsdale, Ill. Mrs. Houltshouser had lost her eyesight and had been in failing health for some time prior to her death. She would have been 92 years of age on Dec. 19. Private funeral services were held in Hinsdale and in May, memorial services are to be held here in Estherville. Survivors include Mrs. Houltshouser’s daughter, Mrs. Blank, the former Anita Houltshouser of Estherville; four grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Gorton of this city and Mrs. Minnie Hastings of Emmetsburg; two brothers, Walter Frank of Oakland, Calif., and Ben Frank of Stockton, Calif. At one time the late Mr. Houltshouser was owner-operator of the Orleans Hotel. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 27, 1960)
