Dr. Hotelling Dies at 84
Dr. Arthur Hotelling, 84, former Estherville chiropractor, died today at 8:25 a.m. at Holy Family Hospital. He had been ill for two months, during which he had been hospitalized. Death was caused by complications of advanced age.

Arthur Lee Hotelling was born July 11, 1882, in Hoosick, N.Y., the son of William and Emeline Hotelling.

When he was 10, he moved with his family to Rockford, Ill., where he received his schooling and graduated from Rockford Business College.

In 1910, the family moved to a cattle ranch in western Kansas.

He was married Aug. 22, 1906, to Allie Norman at Scott County, Kan. In 1922, he and Mrs. Hotelling left ranching and moved to Davenport. Both he and Mrs. Hotelling graduated there from the Palmer School of Chiropractic.

They practiced their profession in Rock Valley for 13 years, in Estherville for seven years, and in Northwood for 19 years. Upon retiring they returned to Estherville in 1950 and since then had made their home here.

Dr. Hotelling was a member of First Methodist Church, a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Bethel Shrine, Eastern Star, and the Knights of Pythias.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Mrs. W. J. (Vera) Hipple of Estherville, Mrs. C. C. (Lea) Shepard of Mason City; eight grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Last rites are to be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Fuhrman Funeral Home, Rev. C. R. Buckwalter officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Pallbearers are to be grandsons, Robert Shepard, Howard Shepard, Ray Kramer, Dan Georgeff, Herschel Knutson and James Swanson. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 17, 1966)
