Lemuel R. Ladd Dies at Home of L.N. Boone
Lemuel R. Ladd was born near Andes, New York, July 19, 1834. He was one of the youngest of a family of twelve children all of whom lived to a ripe old age, except two who died when young. One brother Augustus Ladd, who lives in Northern Minnesota, is the only one now living of this large family.The wife and three little children departed this life about fifty years ago.
Mr. Ladd was engaged in the hardware business in New York the greater part of his active business life. He came to this county about ten years ago where he continued to reside until called by the messenger of death, March 1st at the home of L. N. Boone of this city. He was a man of more than average intelligence and refinement, a college graduate, having prepared himself for the Baptist ministry.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. J. Arthur Hurley, pastor of the local Baptist church, on Monday afternoon. Interment in Oak Hill cemetery. (Vindicator and Republican, Estherville, IA, March 7, 1923)
