Elsie Horswell Dies; Rites Held Monday
Mrs. Elsie Horswell, 81, Estherville, died at 3:30 Friday [October 16, 1970] afternoon at the Holy Family Hospital as a result of a stroke.

She was born Aug. 25, 1889, at Estherville, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. August Leo. She was educated in the Estherville schools and attended Estherville Business College.

She was married Dec. 4, 1913, to Joy R. Hoswell at Logan.

Mrs. Horswell was the president of the Estherville PTA for several years, a member of the Estherville’s Woman’s Club, a charter member of the Estherville Garden Club, a member of the First Presbyterian Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Kenneth (Genevieve) Frank, Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs. Richard (Vera Joyce) Dewey, Akron, Ohio; one son, Leo W. Horswell, Dallas, Tex.; seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.

Services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Burial was in the Oak Hill Cemetery.

The Reese-Henry Funeral Home in Estherville was in charge of arrangements. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 19, 1970)
