Mrs. Harry Higbie Dies; Rites Tuesday
Mrs. Harry A. Higbie, 61, died yesterday morning at Holy Family Hospital of embolism as a result of hardening of the arteries. She had been hospitalized since Dec. 1.

Family services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home. Public services will be 2 p.m. at the Methodist Church, the Rev. William R. Noland officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at Sandin-Fuhrman Funeral Home from today until Tuesday noon, at which time the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until the time of services.

Pallbearers will be Robert S. Knight, William Sidles, Frank Smith, Arnold Mouritsen, John Carmen and Lawrence Jensen.

Mrs. Higbie was born Jan. 7, 1899, at Bellevue, Ohio, the daughter of Samuel and Anna Long. She moved to a homestead at Island Lake, Minn., with her family when she was four years old and received her education there.

On Jan. 9, 1916, she was married to Harry A. Higbie at Island Lake. The couple moved to Estherville in the fall of 1943. Mrs. Higbie was a member of the First Methodist Church of Estherville, the Methodist WSCS and the Degree of Honor.

She is survived by her husband, two sons Thomas of Sioux City and Harry of Vancouver, British Columbia; three daughters, Mrs. Ann Carrison of Estherville, Mrs. Cecil (Mary) Payne of Brandon, Miss., and Mrs. Eldon (Daisy) Rouse of Ayrshire and 21 grandchildren and one great granddaughter.

Mrs. Higbie is also survived by one brother Omer Long of Longview, Wash., two sisters Flora Mackaman of Olney, Mont., and Nellie Bruzelius of Arkansas City, Kans.; three half-brothers Lee Hedglin of Longview, Wash., Ernest Hedglin of Bothell, Wash., and Edward Hedglin of Sauk Center, Minn., and two half-sisters, Florence Smith of Creswell, Ore., and Opal Smith of Springfield, Ore.

Mrs. Higbie was preceded in death by two sons, Harold and David. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 12, 1960)
