"Local Woman, 83, Dies; Rites to Be Thursday
Mrs. Harry (Myrtle)Higbie, 83, died Tuesday afternoon of a heart attack in her home in Estherville.

She was born Sept. 17, 1886, at Carl to Mr. and Mrs. Elijah Rice. She came to Estherville with her parents at the age of six. She received her education in Estherville. For many years Mrs. Higbie was a nurse in the city.

She was married Sept. 23, 1963, to Harry A. Higbie in Estherville. She was a member of the Methodist Church, and the Rebekah Lodge.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Mrs. T. R. (Ruth) Taylor of Greenbelt, Md., and Mrs. Emmet (Vera) Amdahl of Estherville; one son, Donald A. Richardson of Playa Del Ray, Calif.; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, and one sister.

Pallbearers will be Leonard Bendixen, Rudolf Holmgren, Herman Jensen, Ed Rosendahl, Arnold Mouritsen and Delbert Hinsch." (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, October 22, 1969)
