Funeral Services For Samuel Fritz Were Held on Monday
After an illness of some duration, Samuel Fritz, a resident of this city for 47 years, passed away in a hospital in Iowa City where he went for treatment two weeks ago.
Mr. Fritz is well known in this city, to all the old time residents and to many of the younger generation. He was a genial man and friendly to all.
He was born at Kokomo, Ind., on March 29, 1855 and he spent his parents near that city. Later he moved to Dixon, Ill., where he was married in 1880. The young couple resided in Kansas and then came to Estherville to reside and have made this their home for almost a half a century.
There remains to mourn his death a wife and two daughters, Mrs. Grover McCall of this city and Mrs. Oscar Hart of Miami, Florida.
The remains were brought to Estherville from Iowa City and the funeral services were held from the Sternborg Funeral Home Monday afternoon at 2:00 with Rev. J. Riggs officiating. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery.
Mrs. Oscar Hart of Miami, Fla., Mrs. Al Johnson of Sioux City and Mrs. Carl Furchner of Parkington, S. Dak., relatives were here in attendance at the funeral services. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, April 15, 1936)
