Mrs. Elwood
Estherville – Funeral services for Mrs. Bessie Elwood, 81, Estherville, will be 11 a.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Estherville, with the Rev. Max Goldman officiating and burial in the Oak Hill Cemetery. She died Monday [June 30, 1975] at Holy Family Hospital.

Mrs. Elwood was born August 15, 1893 at Boone to Mr. and Mrs. Frank Craven and received her education at Graettinger. In 1911 she was married to Riley Elwood at Armstrong. They moved to Estherville and Mr. Elwood preceded her in death in 1934.

Survivors include seven sons, Fred and Eldie, Estherville; Frank, Ogilvie, Minn.; Orlin and Lloyd, Los Angeles; Harold and Kenneth, Mike City, Mont.; two daughters, Mrs. Jake (Alice) Smith, Lake Wilson, Minn.; Mrs. Kenneth (Marian) Boot, Pisgah; 28 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; four brothers, McKinley Craven, Portland, Ore.; Clarence Craven, Zumbrota Falls, Minn.; George Craven, Jackson, Minn.; Charles Craven, Los Angeles; two sisters, Mrs. Mayme Gensmer, Altura, Minn.; and Mrs. Jessie Hilderbrand, Colorado Springs, Colo.

Friends may call at the Fuhrman Funeral Home from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 10 a.m. Thursday when the body will be taken to lie in state at the church. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, July 1, 1975)
