Dr. Bachman Passes Away
Dr. Bachman, formerly a practicing physician of West Bend, passed away at Rochester, Minn., Wednesday morning. The following article taken from the Estherville Democrat gives all the particulars we have been able to learn:“Dr. W. E. Bachman, one of the leading physicians of this city, died at Rochester, Minn., early this morning. He had gone there yesterday morning to be with Mrs. Bachman who had been there for ten days taking treatment at the Mayo Hospital. The doctor was not there for treatment, but for company with Mrs. Bachman. We have no particulars of his death but it was probably caused from heart failure. The past few years he has had more or less trouble with his heart and at times compelled to remain at home for several days. We talked to him Monday evening at the Jay Johnstone drug store and he complained of not feeling well but intended going to Rochester the following morning as Mrs. Bachman had written that she was very lonesome. When this word came Dr. Bachman thought it his duty to be with her. He could not have arrived long before he passed away. The death of Dr. Bachman is a great los to this community where he has practiced medicine for the past twenty-five years, coming here from West Bend. At that time he was state senator, representing this district. He has been one of the leading physicians of northwest Iowa. The sympathy of the entire community is extended the bereaved relatives. Besides the wife, two daughters, Mrs. Clarence Ladd of Minneapolis and Mrs. J. E. Stockdale of this city, are left to mourn his death. The remains will be brought from Rochester tomorrow evening and in all probability the funeral will be held Saturday. Deceased was past sixty-nine years of age at the time of his death.
