Roy Coleman Passed Away on Wednesday
Roy Coleman, 57 years old retired farmer of Spirit Lake passed away Wednesday at 5:36 a.m. at the Roberts Nursing Home after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon in Estherville. Obituary next week. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, August 18, 1949)

Roy Coleman Laid to His Final Rest
Roy Coleman, 57, retired farmer from the North Superior district and former bus driver for North Superior Consolidated school, died at 5:30 a.m. August 17th in the Robert’s Nursing home. Death was caused by heart disease, and he had been suffering from the ailment for a number of years.

In May this year the family had retired from the farm in North Superior and moved to Spirit Lake.

The deceased was born Sept. 12, 1892, in Glidden and received his education in the Glidden schools.

Oct. 13, 1913, he was married to Hazel Sangster of Estherville and the couple farmed south of Estherville from the time of their marriage until 1932 when they moved to the North Superior district.

Survivors include his wife and three sons, Donald of Long Beach, Cal., Clifford of Spirit Lake and Ronald of Terril.

The funeral services were held from the Sternborg funeral chapel in Estherville on Sunday at 2:30. Rev. John DeLong officiated. Interment was made in Oak Hill cemetery. (Spirit Lake Beacon, Spirit Lake, IA, August 25, 1949)
