Shirley Dow Rites Will Be Friday
Funeral services for Shirley Dow, 74, who died Tuesday [March 19, 1968] at 10:45 a.m. in Holy Family Hospital, are to be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Reese-Henry Funeral Chapel, Rev. H. Allen Wirtz officiating. Masonic services will be held Thursday at 8 o’clock in the chapel. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Dow’s death was attributed to a heart seizure due to emphysema. He had been admitted to the hospital Sunday night.

Shirley Loren Dow was born Dec. 14, 1893, at Garner, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Erwin Dow. He received his education in the Garner schools.

Mr. Dow moved to Estherville in 1914. He was a mail carrier and later was employed by the city of Estherville at the power and disposal plants.

He was married March 4, 194, to Priscilla Booth at Windom, Minn.

Mr. Dow was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, North Star Lodge No. 447, Royal Arch Masons, Knights Templar, Bethel Shrine, Abu-Bekr Shrine, Sioux City; and BPO Elks.

He is survived by his wife, Priscilla; two daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Vivian) Jackson of Fort Dodge, and Margie Ersland of Whittier, Calif.; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; a sister, Mrs. Ethel Garland of Claremont, Calif.; his stepmother, Mrs. Erwin Dow of Iowa Falls; one step-sister and one step-brother.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today until time of services Friday. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, March 20, 1968)
