Jacob Rhule
Jacob Rhule, who has been known for years here as the rug man, passed away at the hospital last Friday [March 26, 1926]. He had been ill for some time past and was taken to the hospital only a few days before his death. For many years he occupied the little house standing on the lots now occupied by the Enterprise office. He moved from that house to one on the west side of the river down near the Henry Hansen farm when this building was erected and has resided there since that time.Mr. Rhule is entirely alone in this country as we remember his statements in the past years. He was born in Germany and came here when a young man. He was always occupied in a business way as a weaver of rugs having followed that trade in Germany.
The funeral services were held from the Allen Parlors on Monday afternoon at one thirty, and the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill cemetery. (Estherville Enterprise, Estherville, IA, March 31, 1926)
Note: per 1925 census, his parents were Martin Rhule (Ruhle) & __ Brown and he was born in Germany in 1853
